Explanation of the School Search packages and their prices

Introduction
Basic Level School Search
Standard Level School Search
Gold Standard School Search

INTRODUCTION

We offer a Basic, Standard and Gold Standard School Search package. If a School Search does not exactly fit your requirements it can be tailored to suit your individual needs.

SUMMARY OF A SCHOOL SEARCH

After the School Search package has been decided the search begins with a consultation with the parents to decide the criteria for the school search.

When the search has been completed the School Report giving details of the schools that fit the criteria and have places is sent, usually by email to the parents.

A Schedule of Unaccompanied School Visits is arranged as part of Standard and Gold Standard package but not for the Basic School Search.

After the visits support is given with the decision making and the application process.

The three School Searches packages are explained in detail after the Notes.

NOTES ABOUT THE SCHOOL SEARCHES

  Initial Payment

After the consultation the invoice for the School Search and the Terms of Business will also be sent by email. The invoice, less £200.00, is payable by cheque or transfer of funds before work begins. The School Search commences when the money has been received.

  School Search Area

All School Search packages cover one search area which is defined as part of a city, a town or a group of villages and is referred to as the “agreed search area”. A larger search area can be covered by the payment of a supplementary fee. The agreed search area for a boarding school place is larger than for a place at a day school and usually covers two counties. The supplementary fees for additional search areas for the three School Searches are laid out below.

  Number of Children

All School Search packages cover a single child or two children attending the same school. Where a second or subsequent child is going to attend a different school in the same area there will be a supplementary fee. The supplementary fees for additional children for the three School Searches are laid out below.

  Accompanied School Visits

Accompanied School Visits can be added to the Standard and Gold Standard School Search packages.
Half a Day: £300.00 (9.00am-1.00pm or 1.00-5.00pm)
Whole Day: £550.00 (9.00am - 5.00pm)
Travel expenses are extra and are charged at 70p per mile for travel by car.

It is a particularly valuable service when combined with Accompanied School Visits especially where there are family members who are not familiar with the English language.

  Consultations

Additional face-to-face or telephone consultations can be added to the School Search packages. The cost of a consultation by telephone for up to one hour is £95.00 payable before the consultation. A face-to-face consultation costs £105.00 which is payable at the time of the consultation.

An additional charge is made for consultations lasting longer than one hour at £47.50 per half hour or part of a half hour for telephone consultations and £52.50 for face to face consultations.

Consultations arranged out of normal office hours (9.00am -5.00pm) and at weekends incur a supplementary charge of £10.00 per hour. If another consultation is required this is charged at the full consultation rate outlined above.

Consultations held at a venue other than at School Guidance’s premises incur travel expenses charged at 70p per mile for travel by car and travel time expenses charged at £60.00 per hour.
